This is my homage to one of my favorite painters, Vincent van Gogh.

His “Starry Night” with its rolling hills and sky, thick brush strokes and curving contours inspired me to paint this very heavy impasto oil painting. The curving contours leading the eye around the work. This piece was strictly done with pallet knife and a heavy rolling technique to build up the paint and set it in place. Laying down the rolls of paint was therapeutic and fun. I will definitely explore this technique again soon, when i have a small fortune to part with for the vast amount of oil paint used.

Painting in progress, notice the very heavy application of oil paint. Like waves crashing and adding together.
